Getting to know Yourself and your Skin
It is essential that you take the time to know your skin before you undergo any type of medical skin procedure, such as hair removal. Medical specialists that administer any type of medical procedure go through training. For example, if you decided to get a juverderm treatment you would go to a dermatologist or medical professional who had undergone juvederm training. Take the time to train yourself at home so that you know your skin and how it will react to the many treatments you may decide to undergo.
Generally speaking there are four different types of skin. They include dry skin, oily skin, normal skin and combination skin. Which are you?
Dry skin: Generally your skin feels dehydrated or lacks oil. It can be sensitive to extreme sun, wind or cold.
Oily skin: Shine is evident if you have oily skin. You may also find yourself more prone to pimples, blackheads and clogged pores.
Normal skin: You may change with the seasons; have oily T zones but a dry-taut check skin area.
Sensitive skin: You may have sensitive skin that is also oily or dry. However, if you are sensitive you may be especially prone to beauty products and extreme temperatures. The way the skin reacts can be a variety of ways. Basically, having sensitive skin is a bonus to the type of skin you already have.
Combination skin: If you are a combination person you may have two extreme types of skin. You may have acne and oil in one area but the rest of the skin is not producing much oil or is dry.
Everyone has a different type of skin and it is important to use the correct cleansers, toners and/or moisturizes based on the skin type you have. Keep in mind that you should be extra careful when choosing makeup and other skin products if you have sensitive skin. Especially consider this when you are considering undergoing any type of medical procedure such as a juvederm or restylane treatment or any type of laser hair removal. If your body and skin tend to react sensitively to the simple makeup or other products you may purchase, you are going to need to be careful. The last thing you want is an extreme reaction to what might already be a painful treatment or at least a treatment requiring a healing period.
Taking the proper precautions when you are about to undergo a medical treatment is essential. When you have a consultation and meet with the medical specialist I’m sure they will ask you many questions regarding your medical history, current and past medications as well as any allergies you may have. Know your skin and your body so that you can explain how you have reacted to any treatments, makeup or chemicals in the past. You’ll not only feel happier with the results of the treatment but you’ll probably impress the doctor with your knowledge as well. Take the time, make the effort and do your research so that you can make sure you get the right treatments and the results that you are most desiring.

Discover Truly Paraben Free Lotions and Creams
Ever wondered why there is such a clamor over paraben free lotions and creams? The major cosmetics companies will tell you that there is absolutely nothing to worry about when it comes to these chemical preservatives being in your skin care products. Despite what these companies tell you, there is a lot of evidence to the contrary.
Scientists have for years been trying to figure out whether or not the chemicals that are commonly used in skin care products are safe. For many years people never even considered the notion of safety in cosmetics, because people really didn’t understand how much of an effect these products could have on the body. Now though, we realize that what absorbs into our skin also gets into our bloodstream, and internal tissue.
This has drawn attention to the fact that paraben free lotions and creams may be necessary if people are to maintain good health. The many studies that have been conducted on both these preservative agents and many other chemicals that are widely used have shown that they are actually toxic to the body. Several of them also contain carcinogenic properties.
Parabens have been the most widely used preservative agents in the cosmetics industry. They have also been found to be present in the tumors of breast cancer victims. This is why the European Union moved to ban all such chemical ingredients from use in skin care products. The U.S. has sought to do the same, but for some reason the courts keep ruling against them.
When you look at the results of the studies that have been conducted it is easy to see the need for paraben free lotions and creams. The major cosmetics corporations want to be able to keep on using these chemical agents however. The reason for this is despite the damage that they can do, these chemical agents are simply cheaper to use as ingredients.
What you need to do if you want to ensure that you keep your health is avoid the products that these companies are manufacturing. There are companies that are producing paraben free lotions and creams despite the fact that natural ingredients cost more to use. These are the companies that you should be getting your skin care products from, because they care about the repercussions that can come through using cosmetics products.
These companies use only the finest natural ingredients that are collected from locations all over the world. These ingredients are selected because they have been clinically tested, and proven to be the healthiest compounds for your skin that can be found. You do not have to be a victim of the popular cosmetics corporations anymore, because there are honest companies out there.
Make no mistake about it. They understand that paraben free lotions and creams are the only way to effectively treat your skin, and some of the all natural products that are being created will do things for you that no chemical based formula could possibly hope to do. These are the products that you need in order to safely change the way that you look.

Do Organic Peels Add an Extra Benefits to Skincare Products?
If you have been looking at organic skincare products lately, you’ve probably noticed that a lot of them have orange, lemon, and other types of peels added to them. Do these things really add any extra benefit to skincare products? What can organic peels do for your skin? Is it all just a hoax?
It seems as though all the top cosmetics companies have suddenly gone organic…or, at least all natural. While this might be true, if a product claims to be “organic” then it has to conform to strict organic standards. Thus, those companies that have produced organic skincare products really are putting your best interests at heart…or are they?
While some organic products really do have ingredients that will benefit your skin, some of them do little more than make your skin smell good. So, what about all of those peels? Well, citrus peel certainly has its place when it comes to anti-aging and exfoliating properties. However, things such as banana peels really don’t benefit your skin at all – that’s right, some companies are putting banana peels into their organic products.
So, what can citrus peels do for your skin? Let’s begin with the orange peel. Aside from the fact that the orange peel is a natural exfoliant, the oils inside of its skin are packed with Vitamin C. Vitamin C is a strong antioxidant that helps to fight off free radicals. Additionally, this lovely scent is perfect for any kind of skincare product.
Likewise, lemon peel is also an excellent exfoliant. Additionally, lemon can act as a powerful astringent, and it also has those helpful antioxidant qualities. The addition of a nice lemony scent is also quite enjoyable when it comes to washing or moisturizing your face.
Now that you know about helpful peels, let’s talk about some of those ingredients that really don’t benefit your skin at all. Sure, it’s true that rougher ingredients can act as exfoliants, but this doesn’t mean that they should end up inside of a skincare product. For example, coconut is an excellent way to buff off some hard skin, but it doesn’t contain any of the oils that lemon and orange peels contain.
In fact, orange and lemon are such popular organic skincare ingredients thanks to their helpful oils. Without these little drops of heaven, these two fruits wouldn’t be held in such high organic regards. So, the next time that you pick up a bottle of something organic, consider whether or not the ingredients listed are actually going to benefit your skin.
If you are buying organic just for the sake of buying something natural, you may not be doing yourself any favours. Take the time to learn a bit about organic ingredients before you purchase anything that’s meant to be all natural. There are a lot of organic products on the market these days, but only some of them are actually worth your time and money.
Make no mistake about it – going organic when it comes to your skin is a great idea. Still, it never hurts to know why one product will help your skin maintain its youthful glow, while another product may not do anything to assist your skin at all. Either way, it is much better to search for organic products than it is to purchase anything that lists all chemical ingredients.

Top Ways To Choose An Acne Medication Regimen That Works
If you have ever had the experience of acne, you are well aware that finding a sure fire way to fight acne can be difficult or sometimes impossible. Acne medication is available for many of the common acne types, but you must do your part and stick with common sense activities that will improve or eliminate the symptoms. If more serious treatment is required, it should be done under the direction of a qualified medical professional. He or she will be able to help you determine the type of acne involved and the best way to fight stubborn cases.
Physical treatment
Acne medication can and usually does include physical treatment for various aspects of the condition. For example, cleansing and exfoliation are often encouraged even if the lesions are light or sporadic. The cleansing agents help to make physical treatment very mild in implementation. There is never a harsh chemical or even harsher scrubbing of the skin with the optimum acne medicine. Cleaning is important, but mild cleansers with warm water and salicylic acid won’t hurt the skin surface, yet still help to wash away dead skin cells and the oils that may be clogging your pores. This means less dead cell buildup, thus less harmful bacteria on the skin surface.
Blue Light
Blue light or high intensity therapy is a type of acne medication that is recognized as a legitimate method of killing the bacteria that causes acne. While the treatment is not something that is taken internally or rubbed on the skin, it is known for effective reduction of the types of acne conditions that have not responded to other types of treatment. Blue light therapy should not be confused with ultraviolet light treatments that were used in the past. UV light can be harmful to the skin and is no longer used in acne remedies.
Oral Medication
Oral antibiotics are one of the most common types of acne medication. The antibiotic chosen by your dermatologist is likely to depend upon the severity of the condition. Oral medication is generally used when the condition is moderate to severe. Oral antibiotics work by reducing the population of P. Acnes bacteria. The link between this type of bacteria and outbreaks of the skin related lesions is undisputed and the treatment has been popular for many years. Dosage for the oral medication generally starts out with a high dosage that is reduced as the condition resolves.
Topical Medication
Topical medication is generally used in instances where the acne outbreaks are mild or sporadic. The acne medication is rubbed on the skin with the intent of reducing the count of P. acnes bacteria found on the skin surface. The topical medication can be used by themselves or in combination with oral meds. Some find topical medications to be less desirable because of the messy feel and look when putting the formula on the skin. Some of the topical medications will only be applied directly to the lesion and thus would be a medication for ‘emergency’ measures

Taking Care Of Combination Skin – How To Do It?
How do you know you have combination skin?
When some parts of your face are shiny and greasy, some parts are patchy and dry! Using skin care products for oily skin makes the skin oilier and using dry skin care products further dries up the skin.
Such a condition is a characterized mark of Combination Skin. And it is a not an easy task to maintain combination skin. If you are one of those battling the tribulations of combination skin, here is some handy information.
What is Combination Skin?
Combination skin is a combination of oily and dry skin. The T-zone of the face (i.e. the forehead, nose and chin) remains oily while the cheeks remain dry. As a result, the T-zone has large skin pores and records occasional outbursts of acne breakouts and inflammations while the cheeks remain itchy and flaky. Though the degree of oiliness and dryness can vary from person to person, the quality of the skin remains tricky.
Common Causes of Combination Skin
Hormonal Imbalances
This is the one of the prime reasons why people develop combination skin. Hormonal changes within the body can result in excessive oiliness or dryness of the skin. Since hormones are imbalanced the most during adolescence, teenagers are most susceptible to develop oilier skin and acne breakouts in their T-zone. However, hormones stabilize with age and oil production decreases.
Lipids
Lipids are essentially fats. These proteins impact the skin texture and tone. This is the reason why the skin feels oily on certain areas and dry at others. Lipids are organized succulently inside the skin surface as per the genetic structure and hormonal make-up.
Environmental Conditions
Environmental factors like weather and climatic conditions can aggravate combination skin and make it even worse. While cold weather can strip off the moisture from skin cells and make the skin dry and flaky, hot and humid weather can accelerate oil production and increase the greasiness on the skin.
How to Take Care of Combination Skin
Combination skin is not like normal skin and neither is it like oily or dry skin that requires a compensatory treatment. It needs special care and nourishment to compensate for the different skin requirements. Here are some tips to take care of your skin.
Cleanse
The cleansing process for combination skin needs is very crucial. You cannot use a strong cleanser that dries up the skin completely and neither can you get rid of the excessive oiliness if you don’t use a cleanser at all. Use a cleanser specifically formulated to cater to the requirements of combination skin or a foaming cleaner that removes all the dirt, debris and impurities without irritating the skin or causing excessive dryness.
Some Product Suggestions:
Obagi Nu Derm Foaming Gel - It is a blend of Aloe Vera, natural herbs and natural cleansers. The foaming gel is a very gentle formulation that gets rid of all the pollutants accumulated on the skin and removes excess oil without disturbing the natural moisture levels of the skin. It is very beneficial for combination skin and leaves it silky soft.
iS Clinical Cleansing complex – It’s a superb cleanser by Innovative Skincare that deep cleanses the skin and resurfaces it. It also controls excessive oiliness of the T-zone and prevents acne inflammations. Though it is powerful, it can used by all skin types including sensitive skin and combination skin.
Exfoliate
Exfoliation makes sure that all the dry and dead skin cells on the skin surface are removed and the underlying fresh skin surfaces. As a result, the skin looks brighter and more radiant. Without regular exfoliation, the skin gets accumulated with dead skin cells that further block the pores and give rise to acne blemishes and blackheads.
For combination skin, it is best to use a gentle exfoliating lotion rather than using scrubs and other harsh exfoliants.
Moisturize
Combination skin also consists of dry areas on the face that need moisture. Apart from that the whole face needs proper levels of hydration as well.
There are two ways you can moisturize combination skin efficiently. Either use two separate moisturizes – a creamy one for drier areas and a lightweight oil-free one for the oily T-zone. Or else you can use moisturize that are specially formulated for combination skin types.

Skin Cancer Experts Share Preventative Tips at Recent Dermatology Nurses Association Conference
DATELINE: COHASSET AND PLYMOUTH, MASS…
The duo shared their expert knowledge of sun safety and melanoma (the deadliest form of skin cancer) prevention with more than 100 DNA members at the DNA’s 27th Annual Convention held in San Francisco on March 6th.
They discussed how skin cancer is most commonly caused by overexposure to sunlight, or artificial UV radiation and recommended that everyone follow SunAWARE, an acronym coined by Mary and John Barrow, authors of Sun Protection for Life: Your Guide to a Lifetime of Healthy and Beautiful Skin. SunAWARE stands for:
-
Avoid unprotected UV exposure any time and seek shade
-
Wear sun protective clothing including hats and sunglasses
-
Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen prior to UV exposure and reapply every two hours
-
Routinely check your whole body for changes in your skin and report suspicious changes to a health care practitioner.
-
Educate your family and community about sun protection.
Dr. Eisen taught that anyone can develop melanoma anywhere on their body and that new and changing moles should be evaluated. He also shared five tips on how to identify potentially dangerous moles or melanomas:
-
Moles that are asymmetric, where one side of the mole does not match the other.
-
Moles that have edges that are irregular, ragged or blurred.
-
A mole that has more than one color, with shades of black, brown, red, white, blue or tan.
-
Moles that are larger than a pencil eraser.
-
Moles that bleed, itch or change in appearance.
“Certain types of moles have a higher risk of becoming malignant melanomas. Melanoma can be deadly because it can spread to other parts of the body. But, it may be cured in its early stages. It’s very important to take preventative measures such as those outlined in SunAWARE and to watch for changes in the skin and follow up on questionable or changing moles with a dermatologist as soon as possible,” explained Dr. Eisen.
Children’s Melanoma Prevention Foundation
The Children’s Melanoma Prevention Foundation, located in Hingham, Mass., delivers a comprehensive sun safety and melanoma awareness program, free of charge, to school children in Massachusetts. Led by Maryellen Maguire-Eisen, RN, MSN, the Children’s Melanoma Prevention Foundation’s “SunAWARE” program is delivered to children in elementary and secondary schools and teaches both skin cancer prevention and early detection. The foundation has won the 2009 American Academy of Dermatology Gold Triangle Award for their two new children’s books, Pretty Prom and Lake Vacation. Remove The Ravages of Time With 100% Pure Skin Care
Why do you think that it is that no matter how hard you look there don’t seem to be 100% pure skin care products that are readily available to you? There is not a cosmetics company on the planet that does not offer you a line of what they deem to be holistic skincare creams, and lotions. However, you will usually find upon examining these products that you are not really getting what is advertised.
Although these companies will commonly market their products as 100% pure skin care they are typically not anywhere close to being wholly organic. These creams almost always contain nothing more than a mere handful of active natural ingredients while the rest of the ingredients consist of chemical additives, and preservatives. I cannot stress enough why you should avoid these types of products.
Why would the cosmetics companies advertise their products as holistic skincare creams while throwing in a ton of potentially harmful chemical agents? They use these chemicals as fillers in their products because the truth be told they are far cheaper for these companies to use than all natural ingredients are. This cost saving move on the part of these companies could cost you greatly in the long run.
It is difficult to find 100% pure skin care products because these natural ingredients require more processing than chemical agents do. So what you end up getting the vast majority of the time are chemicals that have been proven in scientific studies to cause all manner of health problems in humans. These problems range from cancer to neurotoxicity.
So now that we have sorted out why exactly it is that truly holistic skincare products are so hard to find what do we have to do in order to find products that are truly all natural? There are products that are out there that are actually healthy for you to use, but they have been somewhat pushed to the side by the mass produced products of the major corporations.
If 100% pure skin care products are truly what you are looking for then I have to tell you that some of the products that are available will give you results that you could only dream of getting from the products that you will typically find. Would it surprise you to know that there actually products that contain natural ingredients that will reverse the internal processes that cause you to age?
There is a holistic skincare formula that will dramatically increase the production rate of your collagen and elastin, and that will increase the amount of hyaluronic acid that your skin has. This is accomplished through two of the ingredients in these skin care products. One of them is an odd blend of keratin protein, and the other is an extract taken from a rare variety of kelp.
The 100% pure skin care products that contain these two ingredients will completely change the way that you look by giving you skin that is seemingly untouched by the ravages of time.

How Does Dtox Patch Helps In Body Cleansing?
Detox Patches give you more than bandage support and comfort, but also absorb and capture toxins that exit the body during the body’s natural detoxification processes. They are the latest, simplest form of foot therapy. Detox Patches are quickly gaining in popularity among individual users, medical practitioners and health professionals across the nation.
Our ancient herbal formula originated as a folk remedy, absorbing accumulated wastes and toxic materials from the body naturally as ointments in Asian medical science, some believe they radiate negative ions and promote blood circulation to refresh and cleanse your body.
Toxin Facts
Many people don’t realize that a body overloaded with toxins can become more prone to ailments. These ailments include constipation, stomach bloat, poor digestion, gas, fatigue, weight gain, excessive mucus, inability to concentrate, headaches, blemished skin, poor memory, depression, body odor and bad breath. These symptoms occur because our body doesn’t know how to handle the toxins circulating in the bloodstream and doesn’t know how to excrete them. Because of this, toxins can accumulate into harmful quantities or convert into substances that may interfere with your metabolism.
Toxins Accumulate in Extremities
According to Eastern medical theory, gravity causes toxins go downward in your body during the day, causing them to pile up from the tips of the toes to the ankles. Also according to Eastern medical theory, toxin accumulation can lead to various degenerative diseases. For example, painful rheumatism and arthritis are caused by acidic toxin fluid gathered in the joints. A well-known Asian expression is translated as “aging comes from the foot”.
How Detox Patches Remove Toxins
Sweating is the key to the elimination of toxins that flood your body. For centuries, diverse cultures across the world have used techniques like saunas or diets focused on hot and spicy foods to stimulate sweating. DtoxPatch™ work in a similar manner, capturing toxins that are naturally expelled during the sweating process. These patches are easy to apply. You never even know it’s there until you wake to see and feel the results.
Our secret formula contains tourmaline, a mineral found in Brazil. Tourmaline possesses a unique property which some believe emits far infrared rays (FIR) that generate negative ions. Negative ions are known for their soothing therapeutic effect on your body. That’s why people feel so relaxed after a rain storm or next to a waterfall. When worn on your feet, these negative ions stimulate acupressure meridian points for various vital organs, promoting improved circulation and detoxification activity. Some Detox Patch users say the treatment helps them acquire a deep and relaxing sleep without the fuss.
Detox Patches also contain a wood vinegar essence. Chinese villagers have used the sap from Oak, Beech and Sakura trees for thousands of years to make a potent topical salve to treat infections and irritations. Scientists have discovered that a highly processed formulation of these ingredients has the amazing ability to absorb toxins right through your skin and onto the DtoxPatch™. Add chitosan, pearl stone, highly purified silica, polyolic alcohol and starch to the formula and you have a powerful synergistic detoxification solution.
Why do I apply it to the foot?
Because toxins can accumulate into harmful quantities or convert into substances that may interfere with metabolism, it is important to keep them out once they are released by the body. DtoxPatch™, therefore, provides more than just comfort and support. Its ancient herbal formula contained in each bandage sachet also captures released toxins to keep them out for better health. Because toxic matter often stagnates in the feet, the sole is the ideal application area offering the strongest waste collection ability regardless of your symptoms.

Collagen Skin Care Products – Don’T Believe The Hype
Collagen is a natural protein that keeps the skin smooth. As it disappears over time with aging, people often develop laugh lines, crow’s feet, sagging skin and wrinkles.
Many skin care products containing collagen make claims that are not to be believed. The collagen skin care manufacturers pay the advertising industries large sums of money to deceive the public into believing their products will make your skin look younger.
These ads fail to mention the simple fact that collagen protein molecules are too large to penetrate your skin. Don’t believe the hype these companies are promoting. The most you will get out of these collagen skin care products is a cream that will fill in your fine lines and wrinkles until you wash it off. Applying collagen to your skin topically is just a waste of your time and money.
One effective collagen treatment is to have collagen injected underneath the skin. The results can be short-term, painful and there is always the possible risk of infection and it can be quite expensive.
I think a far better approach would be to use a product that uses natural ingredients that will stimulate your own bodies collagen production. This will allow your skin to regain its smooth, supple appearance and you will have less wrinkles and sagging skin.
Cynergy TK is that highly effective natural substance that was developed in New Zealand. It has been proven to help stimulate the regrowth of healthy skin cells and collagen. This natural substance is still relatively unknown outside of New Zealand. Studies in New Zealand have shown that Cynergy TK improves the skins elasticity over 42% and helps the skin retain moisture by over 18%, all of this without any side effects.
Just remember, the best long term skin treatment is to avoid excessive sunlight on your skin. This simple yet very effective tip can keep your skin looking healthy and youthful for many years.
